Strong Potash for Coconut Tree – 1 Litre

“Strong potash” typically refers to high-concentration granular fertilizers, most commonly Muriate of Potash (MOP), which contains around 60% potassium oxide (K2​O). This is the standard, most widely used form of potash in agriculture due to its effectiveness and high nutrient content.

Using this “strong” granular potash for coconut trees is highly beneficial because it provides a potent and sustained dose of potassium, a key nutrient for the palm’s health and productivity.

Application Method and Dosage

First Method :

For One acre we can use 5 litre. Mix 5 litre with  200 litre water and pour 2 litres per tree .

Second Method:

Applying this concentrated potash correctly is crucial to avoid damaging the tree’s roots.

1. Create a Basin: Dig a circular trench or basin around the base of the tree. For a mature, fruit-bearing tree, this basin should be about 1.5 to 2 meters (5 to 6 feet) away from the trunk. Never apply the granules directly at the base of the trunk.
2. Spread the Granules: Scatter the recommended amount of potash granules evenly within this basin.
3. Mix with Soil: Lightly mix the granules into the topsoil. This helps to integrate the fertilizer and prevents it from being washed away.
4. Irrigate: Water the area thoroughly after application. The moisture is essential for the granules to dissolve and for the roots to absorb the nutrients. Applying it during the pre-monsoon season is ideal, as the rains will naturally help in this process.

Dosage Guide:

• Mature Bearing Trees: Apply 500-600 grams of high-concentration potash per tree per year. This is typically split into one or two applications.
• Young Trees: A lower dosage of 200-300 grams per tree per year is sufficient.
